ML Design recognises the value and necessity of a strong philosophy of sustainability to be integrated into master planning and building design solutions and has endeavoured to develop this skill base into each project. ML Design has recently completed a number of significant master planning projects that demonstrate and embody environmental sustainable strategies for:
- Energy reduction and co-generation
- Rain water retention and reuse
- Grey water retention, treatment and recycling stormwater polishing
- Appropriate orientation of buildings to sun and breezes
- Reducing building waste during construction
- Utilisation of low embodied energy building materials
- Reduction in vehicle dependence and enhanced cycle and pedestrian connections
- Plant species selection appropriate to location and maintenance
ML Design Interiors has recently completed a Customer Service Centre for the Environmental Protection Agency. This project is seeking a Green Star – 5 Star rating (Australian Excellence) with the Green Building Council of Australia and is on target to be one of the first of 4 only, registered projects in Queensland to be certified under the Green Star – Office Interiors v1.1 rating tool.
