Australian Institute of Architects F.D.G. Stanley Award for Public Architecture awarded to ML Design and Richard Kirk Architect (Architects in Association)

The Queensland Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects held its annual awards evening of Friday 17 July, and the premier award, the F.D.G. Stanley Award for Public Architecture, was awarded to ML Design and Richard Kirk Architect as Architects in Association for the General Purpose North 4 Building at Queensland University, now known as “The Sir Llew Edwards Building” in honour of the University’s former Chancellor.

MLD and RKA won a limited design competition in a star-studded field and the winning of this award certainly justifies the wisdom of the original university judging panel.

The building will now compete against the best in Australia for the National AIA Award.
