ML Design partners Seymour / Watpac to secure major redevelopment of Urangan Harbour, Hervey Bay.


“Deputy Premier and Minister for Infrastructure and Planning, Paul Lucas, announced today (Wednesday 21st of May, 2008) a joint venture between Watpac and the Seymour Group had been appointed as preferred developer for the redevelopment of Hervey Bay’s Urangan Boat Harbour. “

ML Design was commissioned by Seymour / Watpac to develop a master plan that incorporated a number of their properties with land offered by the state Government for the development. The master plan provided a number of innovative solutions to site constraints that resulted in a developing a quality outcome whilst still being able to meet the stringent commercial requirements of the State Government.

Key elements of the master plan include;
  • 200 + births and harbour extension
  • 3 new urban plazas
  • Continuous pedestrian boardwalk
  • Waterfront commercial and restaurant precincts
  • 2 Resorts
  • Information centre
  • Main street
  • Government hub
  • Mixed use development; and
  • Industrial uses to enable the development to retain its core function as a working harbour.
