Designed in the distinct signature “Mediterranean” style of the developer, Marrakesh is a ten-storey residential resort in Broadbeach, incorporating 143 holiday apartments, a ground level café, gymnasium, spa and indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The mix of one, two and “two plus one” bedroom units include “dual key” units to maximise holiday letting opportunities. The 5,117m² site includes extensive formally landscaped gardens that reflect the Mediterranean theme. Following commencement of construction, a reassessment of the local apartment market resulted in the client's request to change the size and mix of apartments. ML Design responded by redesigning and redocumenting the internal layout of the building within fixed structural and planning parameters, without affecting the construction programme. The project won a 1999 UDIA Urban Design Award as the best multi-residential development
